In order for snowmaking to work, freezing temperatures are required. Generally, temperatures of 28°F or colder provide the right conditions to make snow.

The most important ingredient for a snowmaker is compressed air from an air compressor. The compressed air helps break the water into smaller droplets, allowing them to freeze faster. In addition, as the compressed air exits the nozzle, it rapidly expands and cools, helping lower the temperature of the water and form tiny ice crystals almost instantly. Only a small residential air compressor is needed to run our snowmakers, so there’s no need for expensive commercial equipment. A suitable air compressor will typically cost between $150 and $300.

Pressure washers are also an essential part of making snow. Their main job is to break the water into small, uniform droplets. The smaller the water droplets are, the faster they can freeze and turn into snow. With our easy-to-use snowmakers, you only need a small residential pressure washer—no expensive commercial equipment required. A suitable pressure washer will typically cost between $80 and $250.
